  8. The camera for its price range I thought was very impressive, it is
  9. my first digital camera and only took a very short time to learn how
  10. to use all the functions, its basically point and shoot with some
  11. other options to inhance the performance etc.

  13. As I have never used another digital camera I can't say how it
  14. compares. My main reasons for liking this camera is that fact that
  15. the picture quality is quite good, it isn't perfect but for a camera
  16. of this price I think the quality of the pictures is excellent.

  18. My only gripe with the camera is the poor battery life which defeats
  19. the object of having the updating LCD screen but i'm sure it can be
  20. used occationally without needing too many batteries.

  22. The camera has red-eye reduction, you can turn the flash on and
  23. off, it has automatic detection of the light so if the camera decides
  24. the surroundings are light enough it won't use the flash but if it
  25. is in dark conditions it will. You can of course change this to always
  26. use the flash, never use the flash or as I say use it when the camera
  27. decides it is worth using which overall it seems to use it at the
  28. appropriate times.

  30. A feature I really liked was the fact that it has a built in timer,
  31. you press one button and then press the button to take a picture and
  32. the camera will do the rest.

  34. I'm not sure the saving on film processing is a major factor in getting
  35. a digital camera as the camera itself cost me £249.99. A camera of the
  36. same quality which isn't digital and doesn't have all the digital features
  37. would be a fraction of the cost. I do personally think it is worth
  38. buying a digital camera instead of a regular one but the saving is not
  39. going to be that great if you think you will save on getting films
  40. processed.

  42. A great feature to it being digital is you can pre-view the picture
  43. on the LCD screen and if you don't like it you can delete and retake
  44. it. If you are on that once in a lifetime holiday and take a picture
  45. of an item you are likely to never see again and at first you take the
  46. picture while someone walks passed then you can easily delete that
  47. photo and retake it with the click of a few buttons.

  82. The camera doesn't come with any Amiga software, only PC and
  83. Mac, this as you would expect is pretty standard as the Amiga is
  84. seen as a minor computer which is rarely thought or cared about
  85. by big companies. This means that if you want to use the camera
  86. with your Amiga you will need the pin adaptor to change from the
  87. PC serial 9 pin port to the Amigas 25 pin serial port and also
  88. some Amiga software.

  90. Luckily a very brillaint Amiga user named Matthias Bock
  91. (starfox@cow.mayn.de) has writen software for alot of the major
  92. Kodak cameras and maybe even some other but i'm not totally sure
  93. about that.

  95. The software is for the Kodak DC210 but also works with the
  96. DC215 which I have been reviewing.

  98. The software in itself really deserves a high mark because it
  99. does the job and without it then there would be no way to transfer
  100. the pictures from the camera to your Amiga directly.

  102. Compared the the supplied PC software the package is quite basic.
  103. You can mark the pictures stored in your camera, unmark them if you
  104. wish and then copy them from your camera to your computer. There
  105. is also a stop button if you feel the need to stop half way through.
  106. The speed in transfer seems quite similar to the PC and if there
  107. is any difference it isn't noticeable.

  109. There PC software does have some other features to directly delete
  110. pictures of the camera and take pictures by clicking on the GUI
  111. which the Amiga software does not currently support but these are
  112. only extras that aren't really needed. I am just glad there is some
  113. Amiga software available and for that I recommend this program.

  115. I'm sure in future versions the author may beable to add in the
  116. fancy bells and whistles the PC version has but until then i'm
  117. content with the software as it does the job.
